Alex Gargot is a director and screenwriter born in Barcelona, Spain.
(I wrote this but in 3rd person because it sounds cooler)
His debut short film, Amo (2016), was produced by ESCAC Films and starred Mireia Oriol. It premiered in the official selection of the Sitges Film Festival and received awards at Les Utopiales, Fantastic Planet and Piélagos en Corto.
Gargot went on to direct music videos and commercials, joining the production company Canada. He won Best Dance Video (Newcomer) at the UK Music Video Awards in 2019 for Cora Novoa’s State of Mind. In 2021, his video for Fuel Fandango and María José Llergo’s Mi huella earned nominations for Best Short Form Music Video at the Latin Grammy Awards and Best Director at Ciclope Festival. In 2025, his video for SAINt JHN’s Body on Me won the music video direction award at Berlin Commercial.
Alongside this work, he writes and directs his own films. His second short film, Sonrisa de mierda, premiered in 2026. His next short, Gamuza, won the DAMA Award for Best Screenplay at the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival’s screenplay competition in 2026. As of October 2026, Gamuza was in preproduction with Canada, with a planned release in 2027.
